The southwest monsoon will start from June 1 in Kerala

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the southwest monsoon will begin in Kerala from June 1 following the hurricane.  Earlier, the meteorological department said in its forecast on May 15 that the monsoon would start in the southern state from June 5.

Normal rainfall forecast for the country this year

The monsoon in Kerala usually starts from June one.  The formation of a cyclone on the Bay of Bengal is likely to help in the progress of the monsoon.  The meteorological department forecasts low pressure in the southeast and near East Central Arabian Sea from May 31 to June 4.  This situation is conducive to bringing an early monsoon in Kerala.  The meteorological department has also forecast normal rainfall in the country this year.

When can it rain in which state?

Monsoon is expected in Kerala from June1.  The monsoon will start from June 5 in Goa, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Assam and the northeastern states.  According to the meteorological department, the monsoon is likely to enter Maharashtra, Telangana, West Bengal and Sikkim from June 10.  Apart from this, monsoon is likely to start from June 15 in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Orissa, Jharkhand and Bihar.  The monsoon is likely to start from June 20 in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.  However, the monsoon is likely to subside by June 25 in Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh.  This means that Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat are likely to receive heavy rains in late June.  The monsoon will finally enter Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana.  According to the weather department, the monsoon is likely to start in these states by June 30.
