The Union Cabinet meeting chaired by PM Narendra Modi has taken some important decisions. Now only one exam will be taken for central government government jobs. Announcing the decision, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said that there are more than 50 recruitment agencies for government jobs in the country. Young people have to take many exams for government jobs.

The Union Cabinet has taken a historic decision to end it. The National Recruitment Agency (NRA) will take the Common Eligibility Test which will benefit millions of youth. The Union Cabinet has approved the creation of a National Recruitment Agency (NRA) to conduct online common eligibility tests for central government jobs. Javadekar said that millions of youths have been demanding this for a long time which has finally been met.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh informed of the decision of the Union Cabinet. The merit list of Common Entrance Test (Common Entrance Test, CET) will be valid for three years. During this time the candidate will be able to recruit for jobs in different sectors depending on their qualifications and preferences. This is a historic change. NRA Graduate, Std. 12 pass and std. 10 passes will take CET in three categories. The government has sanctioned Rs 1,212.5 crore for the formation of NRAs. There will be no control over how often the CET can be given but the maximum age limit for getting a job will apply. The CET will be taken in multiple languages.

In another important decision, the government has approved raising the fair and remunerative price of sugarcane from Rs 10 to Rs 3 per quintal. These prices will come into effect from the new marketing year of sugarcane starting October, 2020. The decision is based on the recommendations of the Commission on Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP). FRP is the minimum price of sugarcane that sugar mills have to pay to sugarcane farmers.

A third important decision is to allow Power Finance Company and Rural Electrification Corporation to lend more than their working capital to DISCOM (electricity distribution companies). Now loans of more than 5% of working capital will be given.
This decision will increase the financial liquidity of electricity distribution companies. The decision has been taken under a plan to disburse Rs 50,000 crore. This benefit will be provided under Ujwal Discom Assurance Scheme (UDAY).
